Ramadan: A Journey of Faith, Fasting, and Reflection (1)
Ramadan Is Approaching: Let’s Prepare Together
The month of Ramadan is a few weeks away, and with it comes an unparalleled opportunity for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and drawing closer to Allah. Yet, for many of us, it often feels like we only truly tap into the blessings of Ramadan when it’s already halfway over. By the time our hearts are fully engaged and our routines adjusted, the month’s fleeting days are nearly gone.
This is why I’m starting this series now—to help all of us prepare, step by step, so that when Ramadan begins, we are ready to dive in headfirst and make the most of every moment.
What to Expect
Over the next five weeks, we will explore the essence of Ramadan together. These articles will be short and impactful, offering insights, practical tips, and spiritual reminders to help us warm up before the holy month begins. Once Ramadan starts, you can look forward to daily articles that will guide and inspire you through every day of this blessed journey.
Why Start Now?
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encouraged us to prepare for Ramadan long before it arrived. He would increase his acts of worship in the months of Rajab and Sha’ban, using this time to spiritually, mentally, and physically ready himself. Fasting during Sha’ban, in particular, was a beloved practice of his. He said:
“Sha’ban is the month in which people become neglectful, between Rajab and Ramadan. It is the month in which deeds are taken up to the Lord of the Worlds, and I love that my deeds be taken up while I am fasting.” (Sunan al-Nasa'i 2357)
Fasting a few days in Rajab and Sha’ban helps condition our bodies and souls for the rigorous yet rewarding journey of Ramadan. It’s like training before a marathon—the earlier you start, the more you’ll benefit.
A Warm Invitation
This series is for everyone—whether you’re a seasoned observer of Ramadan or someone looking to reconnect with its beauty. Let’s enter this sacred season with hearts ready to receive its blessings. Starting today, let’s take small steps toward building momentum so that when the crescent moon of Ramadan appears, we’ll already be in the spirit of worship and mindfulness.
Stay tuned for the next article, where we’ll dive into the practical steps you can take now to prepare. May Allah grant us the ability to witness Ramadan and benefit fully from its immense rewards!
