Revelation in Motion (25): Eternal Gardens — The Quran’s Promise of Renewal
“And give good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a fruit from them, they will say, ‘This is what we were provided with before,’ and it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally.”
(Al-Baqarah 2:25)
Before the Quran
In pre-Islamic Arabia, paradise was not a vivid hope for most. The afterlife was vague, shadowy, or dismissed entirely. Reward was measured in wealth, honor, and legacy—things that faded with time. The idea of an eternal, perfected life was not the driving force behind moral behavior.
After the Quran
Then came Allah’s words and transformed the concept of reward into something eternal, pure, and deeply personal. It painted paradise not just as a place, but as a relationship with the Giver—where joy never fades, and every blessing feels both familiar and new.
Our World Today
In a world obsessed with upgrades—new phones, new homes, new experiences—nothing seems to hold its charm for long. We chase satisfaction, only to feel its spark dim quickly. The Quran reminds us that the ultimate fulfillment is not found in the temporary, but in a life where joy renews itself endlessly. In Jannah, beauty never becomes stale, and every gift deepens love and gratitude.
The Mirror
This verse asks: What truly motivates you? If your heart only beats for what is fleeting, you will always hunger for more. But if your soul anchors to the eternal, every act of faith and kindness becomes a seed for gardens that will never wither.
