Revelation in Motion (26): The Small and the Great — Lessons from a Mosquito
“Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example—even that of a mosquito or anything above it. As for those who believe, they know it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, ‘What did Allah intend by this example?’ He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient.”
(Al-Baqarah 2:26)
Before the Quran
The proud leaders of Quraysh mocked the Quran for mentioning humble creatures like flies and spiders. To them, such imagery was beneath divine speech. Their arrogance blinded them to the depth hidden in the smallest signs.
After the Quran
The Quran declared that truth is not measured by the size of the sign, but by the openness of the heart.
Our World Today
We live in an age obsessed with grandeur—massive projects, viral trends, flashy headlines. Small acts often go unnoticed. Yet Allah teaches us that even a mosquito can carry a message, and that humility before truth is the key to guidance.
The Mirror
Do you dismiss the small because it feels insignificant? Or do you search for the wisdom Allah may hide in the tiniest of things? Sometimes, the smallest signs reveal the greatest truths—if only we choose to see.
